Peter Shih-Ping Hung

Peter Shih-Ping Hung is currently pursuing a PhD through the Institute of Medical Science and the Collaborative Program in Neuroscience at University of Toronto.
As an undergraduate student, Peter conducted neuropathic pain research using various rodent models under the guidance of Dr. Alfredo Ribeiro-da-Silva at McGill Univesity--with an emphasis on furthering our understanding of trigeminal neuropathic pain.
Currently, Peter is investigating various brain structural changes in human trigeminal neuralgia (TN) patients through various minimally-invasive neuroimaging techniques such as diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). He is particularly interested in identifying brain structural landmarks that differentiate TN patients that require multiple, as opposed to, a single surgical treatment for pain relief--landmarks which can then in turn help neurosurgical specialists optimize treatment plans and better care for TN patients.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys improvising and composing music on the piano and exploring the city.
